Who We Are
We are a well-established, full service landscape company offering design, construction and maintenance. We are leaders in designing and crafting unique gardens of distinction. We continually strive to provide the highest caliber product with professional attention to all details.
The Team
The owners, Phil Whittle and Rick Hansen, have over 50 years of combined experience in all phases of the landscaping industry. Both are intimately involved in the operations of the company with a "hands on" approach.
Phil is head of production and works full time with the crews to ensure the highest quality of workmanship. Phil is a skilled craftsman whose expertise assures the finest finished product.
Rick is head of design and sales, and works closely with all of the customers to develop a customized plan for the fulfillment of their dreams. He is accomplished at creating original designs that bring beauty and a sense of harmony to the garden.

Custom Landscape Design, Construction and Maintenance
While we stress a particular affinity for water gardens, we are experts at all phases of landscape design and construction. Our construction crews install our own designs and we also offer maintenance plans to sustain your garden's health and beauty.
Design and Build
Every garden is unique, and is custom designed to bring your desires into harmony with the complexities of the specific site. We work within budget of each of our clients to come up with a plan that can be completed in its entirety or completed in phases. Our projects range from small entry courtyards to expansive estates and include renovations of existing landscapes or new landscaping for new houses.
Our designs incorporate plantings, viewing and sitting areas, irrigation systems, outdoor lighting, fencing, decks, arbors, and any other aspect of the construction necessary to complete setting. Once we have completed a design we are able to install the new landscaping ourselves, which allows for continuity from the beginning to the finished product.
Maintenance
After basking in the reality of your dream garden, you will no doubt be conscientious about its upkeep. Pacific Gardens and Waterworks can provide a regularly scheduled maintenance program that will assure your garden's health and beauty, and protect your investment.

First it was the stream and pond, then the rock garden with 37 tons of boulders, then the lawn and extended irrigation system. When we debated on whether to add a Japanese or English themed garden, Rick drew up two plans (we chose the Japanese garden) and Phil carefully selected and installed rock slabs and boulders for Koi to hide under.
In addition to providing designs and planting guides so that we could maintain our gardens, Rick also helped provide experts to build special structures such as the Japanese gateways and fences, a hot tub pagoda, a deck and flagstone masonry. In all cases the contractors he provided had the same quality and artistic skills as his own team.
We are now at 12 years with Rick, Phil and the rest of the team. We're talking about an outdoor fireplace, and like the other projects, we know it will be outstanding in quality, look like it was meant to be there and are excited to work once again with Pacific Gardens.
